A featured snippet is the boxed answer, paragraph, list, or table Google lifts from a page and shows at the top of the results to answer a query directly. It is the classic "position zero" and a precursor to AI answers. Winning one comes from directly and concisely answering a specific question on a page that already ranks well for it.
