A file listing a site's pages to help search engines find them.
An XML sitemap is a file that lists the URLs you want search engines to know about, along with hints about when each was updated. It does not guarantee indexing, but it helps engines discover pages efficiently, which matters most on large or poorly linked sites. Submitting it in Search Console is a standard first step.
